The modern game known as "craps" can trace its roots back to the early 11th century and is thought to be a less complex version of "hazard" – a game played by the Anglo-Saxons. The origins of the name "craps" is debatable, however the most probable theory is that it is derived from the word "crapaud". What is not debatable though is that the game first came to America with French immigrants, who settled in Louisiana after being kicked out of the former French colonies which are now part of Canada.
